Florida theme park, Busch Gardens Tampa, has come up with a novel way of recycling used printed maps and brochures.
Old collateral is sent to Uganda and Kenya where they measured, cut, rolled and set by hand, creating colourful, bespoke fair trade beads by a team of people including a group of Maasai warriors. Guests to the park can visit the new Upcycled Bead shop to choose their beads and make their own individual pieces of jewellery.
100 per cent of proceeds from sales of the jewellery in park go to Outreach Uganda and Water is Life – two non-profit organisations that aid impoverished African men and women, helping them build their own village of homes, creating savings programs and sponsoring community development projects in health, education and vocational training.
Busch Gardens Tampa Bayis where the unexpected comes together with an unparalleled combination of thrilling rides, world-class live shows andis home to more than 12,000 animals.
